SIX Months Old - June 17th

As I say every month, I CANNOT believe I have a SIX MONTH OLD! He is getting so big and doing so many new things all.the.time. I cannot imagine what he will be doing in the next few months too.

Unfortunately, I was out in California on the six month big day. I was out for a conference and Brian came out too. We went to Disneyland and really had a great time. But I missed this little dude like crazy. Brian and I spent one night going through our Facebook pictures of him going "Remember this...remember that..." :)
My mom sent me a picture on the 17th of Andrew sitting up all by himself for the first time! Daycare had really been working with him on it so I knew it would be soon but I was so surprised :) And proud!
Love that face!
And here he is slapping that hand on his thigh and I'm sure hollering something. haha
Here are some fun facts for this month:

  • Still in size 2 diapers
  • Had his first ear infection (a double one, at that!)
  • Sits up by himself
  • Started some purees but he's really not a big fan (whole other post)
  • Finally moved to 3-6 month clothing, although they are still a little big
  • Mommy and Daddy stayed away for the first time (Christy's wedding in Corpus)
  • 14.5 lbs (13%)
  • 24 inches (.35% - yes, you read that correctly. I have a short kid. Surprised?)
  • 32 inch diameter of his head (35%)

And the biggest one is that he has cut two bottom teeth! This happened at 6 mo, 1 week but I was so surprised. He has been drooling like crazy for two+ months. Lately, it hasn't been as bad. But the other night, I was feeling his bottom gum and felt one tooth. Then two days later when I picked him up from daycare, they said there was another one coming in. Everybody asks if he is cranky or crying a lot - and he isn't, which is great. He woke up crying that first night, before we knew about the tooth, but he went right back to sleep. I'm so excited for the teeth but it is bittersweet to know I'm losing that gummy baby.
Luckily, we have a ton of pictures with that gummy smile!
He is still small for his age but I feel like he is so much bigger than last month. He was sleeping on the couch one evening and Brian said "when did he get that big?" I think that expresses how I feel every time I slow down and just soak it in. I know I will feel this way for a long time to come but it sure does make me appreciate every.single.moment.
Andrew - you are such a sweet, little blessing to us. We fall in love with you more everyday, which we think is impossible. You make us laugh all the time with your little personality, which grows all the time too. My favorite thing right now is that you are just enamored with your daddy. If I'm holding you, you will look at him and wait for him to look back. When he does, you get the best little grin on your face and it makes you so happy. You are also laughing so much lately and that brings so much joy to the entire family. Everyone loves being around you because you are such a happy, content baby and you love people-watching as much as your momma. We love watching you grow everyday but don't grow too fast. We need time to savor every moment with you. We love you so much!

Five Months Old!

Really? Do we really have a FIVE MONTHS OLD?!
Oh, this sweet boy is just so much fun! And he is growing and learning every day. We enjoy watching him figure out new stuff and just play with him.

Here are some fun facts about our growing boy:

  • moved into size 2 diapers
  • last dr appt weighed 13 lbs, 3 oz
  • still in 3 month clothes but I could see you getting into some 3-6 soon
  • has started recognizing the dogs and reaching for them - love this!
  • You are ticklish under you neck and on your sides - mommy loves to tickle you and make you laugh

  • You talk so much, especially in the morning
  • We moved you to your own crib in your own room this month. Mommy didn't think she was ready but one night, I just put you down and you have done great!
  • You rolled over the other night in your crib, in your sleep. That is about the only time you have rolled over. You just have no interest. You keep pushing your leg up but can't quite get that roll on.
  • You are taking about 3 naps a day and wake up, usually, once a night.
  • I think you may be starting to teeth. Your drooling has gotten crazy and you are fussier than normal (which is totally not you). But we don't see any teeth breaking through yet. (Which I'm secretly glad for because I love your gummy smile.)
  • We have started "teaching" you sign language. We are only using the sign for 'milk' right now but will eventually start using more.
Sweet, little boy, you are getting so big everyday. We love loving on you and you make us so happy. Even though we are tired some mornings, we are so excited to hear your "talking" and see your smiles every morning. You are so much fun and we are loving this exploring and learning stage. We love you and feel blessed everyday to have you with us!

March 17th - 4 months old

This is Andrew's "Peyton, please come play for the 49ers" outfit today :)
We worked on the yard today and as we were finishing up, I brought Andrew out to do a little shoot for his FOUR MONTH BIRTHDAY! Can you believe it?! I say this every month but it seems like we just came home from the hospital with him. But he has fit right into our little routine and our little family just like he has always been here.
We got him a bumbo this weekend since he seems to love the one at daycare. They say it's his LaZboy because he just reclines back in it and hangs out. :) He loves to just sit and watch what is going on.
Oh Andrew, your personality is growing more with every day. Daddy has been able to get you laugh for awhile but now you will laugh for other people. Today, I got you to laugh by bouncing you on the bed. You have the cutest, open-mouthed laugh ever. You are still a calm and content baby, only crying when you are hungry or tired.
You sleep through the night sometimes. If you wake up, it is usually only once, around 2am, to eat and then you are back to sleep. You are still really snotty from your cold so sometimes you have been waking up with coughing fits and I have to suction the snot out of you, literally :)
(What a cool kid! We got you sunglasses this weekend while at the outlets for our sunny walks)
You are still in size 1 diapers and you are in all 0-3/3 mo clothes. There are a couple of 3-6 mo that you can fit into but they are still pretty roomy. I went to a consignment sale this week and got you some rompers for daycare. All of your 0-3 mo clothes are cold-weather clothes and you are so hot-natured that you can't really wear any of it. Most days now you go to daycare in a onesie and socks.
I don't know what your stats are because your 4 month appointment isn't until Monday but I would guess you are probably still around 12 lbs but I know you have grown longer. When we got your jumperoo, your feet were still really far off the ground. Now, your little toes can touch the floor and you can push off a little bit. I'll come back and update stats after your appointment.

*Update: We got your stats today at your doctor's appointment. You are 12 lbs 15 oz (13%), 22.5 inches long (1%). Your head circumference is 16 inches (13%). You are a tiny boy, that's for sure. The doctor wasn't worried about your 1 percentile of length - I figure you are just going to be a shorty like everyone else in your family. :)

Drewbie (yes, I still call you that) - you are such a happy little baby and we couldn't love you more. Your dad constantly tells me about your little smiles and laughs and ends the comment with "I love that kid". We love watching you grow and discover new things - it's just as fun for us. We love you so much and are so blessed to have you as our little boy!

February 17th - Three Months Old

Oh, Andrew,
You are 3 months old now and I cannot believe it's been that long since we brought you home from the hospital. Three months doesn't seem like that long but I feel like it was last week when you were swimming in your preemie clothes and were only 6 lbs!
If I had to guess, I think you are around 12 lbs now. We won't know until we go for your four month appointment since mommy doesn't keep a scale in the house.
You are still in size one diapers but that belly is getting bigger and hanging over your diaper more and more.
You are a good eater and still eat pretty much every three hours except at night.
You've been sleeping through the night for awhile. At least, I consider it sleeping through the night. You go to bed around 8pm and wake up once, around 4am. Then you are up for the day around 6:30am.
You take 3-4 naps a day and love napping in your swing.
You are such a happy baby in the mornings and you love to talk to us while we get ready in the morning.

You have been at daycare for a couple of weeks now and you love your teachers. You just smile at them when we drop you off. I think you like to flirt with Ms. Laura. I love your teachers too and that makes it easier to drop you off everyday. You are so excited to see me when I pick you up too.
You are just an all around happy baby. You really only cry when you are hungry, tired or wet. Otherwise, you  are at the stage where you smile at everything and are starting to laugh. You love your jumper and to sit up and look around.

We love you so much and still look at you daily with disbelief that you are ours. Your daddy is so in love with you and it makes my heart happy to hear him talk to "his son". You light up when you see us and I'm pretty sure we do that same! :) We have loved watching you grow and get a little personality and it only makes me more excited to see what you have in store for us!

January 17th - Two Months Old

Oh Drewbs, you are two months old now. You are growing so much!
This picture makes you look like a little old man.
At two months, you are now giving us smiles all.the.time. and I love it!
You are recognizing me and your dad and you can finally see things at a further distance.
We got you a jumperoo since you love sitting up and checking things out. You have such good head control and you love it. You can't reach the ground yet but you like to play with one of the toys on there.
You will start daycare in two weeks and I am excited for you. I've been working a lot from home so I think it will be good for both of us when we get into that new routine. But for now, I love being at home with you. It has been a relaxing joy.
You did so good with your two month shots. You cried for a minute and then fell asleep and pretty much slept all day. It was funny because you were just smiling at the nurse and then she stuck you with those needles. You looked so betrayed :)
I don't have your stats on hand but I will update with those soon.
