14 weeks

Well, here's a picture. :) I promised I would post some but it's horrible, really. It was taken quickly this morning as I was getting ready for work. And it's mostly just fat :) But that's okay - we are at 14 weeks today. Belly is the size of a lemon. Last week, it was a peach. I feel like a peach is bigger but maybe it's a large lemon.

Anyway, belly can now suck its thumb, wiggle its toes and is growing a layer of hair for warmth (which Ali's reply was "gross!"). It's funny to see Ali's responses to this whole process. Her question for a while was: when will it lose its tail? :)

Oh and back to the picture: You see all those boxes back behind me? That's cause we STILL have not moved. We are still waiting on our loan approval from the USDA and I won't even vent on that because it is such a slow, frustrating process.

My parents and Ali are coming down this weekend. It was supposed to be to help us move. Now, it will be just for fun.

Hope you have a great 3-day weekend - I know I'll be resting during mine! :)

Pregnancy Update

Well, I said I was going to revive the blog to give you pregnancy updates and I haven't done a great job. There has been a lot going on around the Solis' household, not just the pregnancy news. I'm going to make this a bullet point post just to cover everything up to this point. Once I actually get a belly, I am going to try to post weekly pictures for updates. Right now, it is just fat. :)

  • On May 9th, I started a new job on campus. I am still with the athletics department but I'm only doing financial aid & scholarships, which is a nice change of pace. I moved buildings so I am just a floor above Brian. I don't know if he loves that yet but we are working on it :)
  • We will be closing on our house this month. I am ready to move. I hate being in transition. There are boxes EVERYWHERE at our house and it is just a mess, really. I'm ready to get settled into the new place.

Baby stuff:

  • I've had several appointments since my last post. On my birthday, March 31st, we got to see the first ultrasound. It was pretty awesome. After that, we went home to tell our parents. They were all ecstatic.
  • Two weeks later, I had a doctor's appointment for blood work but we actually had to go in earlier. I woke up that morning bleeding and was obviously really scared. BUT everything was fine. When we heard the heartbeat and saw the little tadpole, we were pretty emotional. It was a scary couple of hours. The doctor told me I couldn't do my workout classes anymore, only walking and yoga. So I continued those until the end of the semester.
  • We kept the secret from everyone until week 11. At that point, I told co-workers and Brian took pink and blue cupcakes to the girls in his office to tell them.
  • I went back for my 12 week appointment and finger prick. We didn't get great pictures of the baby but got to see it moving around quite a bit. I go back in a month for more blood work and hopefully an educated guess on the sex of the baby.

My symptoms:

  • I started out just being nauseous in the mornings but then fine the rest of the day.
  • That changes to be sick most of the morning and then fine in the afternoon.
  • I told Brian when I woke up on Saturday (5/14), which was the end of the 1st trimester, I expected to not be sick anymore.
  • However, it just changes time of day. Now, I can't even eat dinner without getting sick. Last night, I had french fries because it was the only thing I thought I could eat without tossing it right back up.
  • So I'm still waiting on the sickness to go away. :)

Other than that, everything is about the same. I'm obviously much more tired so I go home everyday and at least lay down for a bit, if I don't take a nap. I haven't been walking as much as I would like because of the evening sickness. It demolished my motivation to get out and walk. I'm hoping once we move that I can get into the community pool a couple times a week.

I've moved into maternity jeans. Everything else still fits. Except my swimsuits. :) I had an emotional moment in the middle of JCP about not finding a swimsuit for my whale of a body. I ended up finding a super cute swimsuit online at Old Navy and it was 40% off. So I got two tops and a bottom that coordinate. That should last me through the summer.

I'll leave you with a 3-D of the tadpole/alien/it. This was at the 10 week appointment so it has obviously gotten bigger since. This is just the only picture I have on my computer.

Week 5: Food and Sleep

It's all I think about. :)

My biggest fear about being pregnant is that I will gain a ridiculous amount of weight and never lose it. I probably have this fear because I love food. I only exercise so I can eat what I want.

But in reality, I do watch what I eat - or more like, how much I eat. And this week, that has not been the case. I've just eaten whatever. And I only exercised three times - as opposed to every day. So my goal for next week is to make a meal plan of sorts for my days. I'm going to get some healthy snacks and plan out what I eat during the day.

Before I got pregnant, I was eating 1200 calories a day and I lost 10-12 pounds. That is estimated because I don't regularly weigh myself. Anyway, for the first trimester I'm only supposed to be at 1500 calories. So that means I really have to watch myself and keep with my exercise regimen.

Honestly I think all the hunger is just in my head right now.

One of the reasons I have not been much into exercising is that I am tired - every.day. I could come home and take a nap everyday. But the only day that I did was Wednesday. I slept hard. So I've been trying not to nap so I can sleep well at night. And I can tell you that I haven't had a problem with that.

That's about it.

Much love,
Kels & "belly" (that's what Brian likes to call it)

Two Pink Lines

Well, I guess there isn't much to say after I put that picture up here! :) I know it's kind of TMI but I wanted to commemorate the moment. We're PREGNANT!! Sunday, March 20th I needed to take two pregnancy tests to make sure and I still went to the doctor on Monday for more confirmation :) I just couldn't believe it - it was surreal. Brian and I had planned on the baby time but I just didn't think it could happen so soon. But here we are! On 3/25 (Friday of this week) we will be at 5 weeks. That means the baby is the size of an apple seed.

I haven't had many symptoms, just nauseous sometimes. I've been nauseous on and off for about a week and a half but haven't thought about it. Now, it's pretty much every morning but it's not severe and (knock on wood) I hope it stays that way. I am usually feeling fine by mid-morning. Other than that, it's just the same ole stuff.

We are moving right along with the house. Brian went out today (while I was sleeping) and took pictures. They've got the entire thing framed and started on the roof. This is huge because now weather will not be a factor in finishing up. And it seems that things are moving pretty fast so I'm hoping we will be in the house mid-May.

I will be doing lots of traveling this summer, especially in June, so I'm hoping to be in the house in May to have a little time to settle in.

Well, that's about it. It took a pregnancy for me to get back on this thing but I really hope to keep it up and update regularly throughout the pregnancy.

P.S. At this point, we have only told my sister about the pregnancy. We are planning on telling our parents in two weeks. Trying to come up with cute ideas for the "tada" moment has been hard but I want it to be special.

Much Love,

Kelsey & appleseed :)

I'm NOT a quitter

Brian says I'm a quitter since I haven't been posting in the blog for about 2 months - probably even longer. But I am NOT a quitter. I think sometimes I just bore people with my posts. But I do have some pictures to share and I will try to get back on track with sharing the (non) exciting life I lead :)

I will do the next couple posts with just pictures. I don't even really know where we left off. Probably some time during the summer. And now it's fall. The weather is beautiful. I wish it would just stay that way instead of getting colder.

We enjoyed the summer but of course, it ended too soon. We had a fun time at the river towards the end of the summer with some of the coaches families. Then school started and it was so busy for both of us. Those first few weeks of getting everyone settled is just pure chaos really. Now we are all settled in as are all the kiddos. And now things are moving so smooth. Brian had his 6 month "anniversary" with the school on the 15th of September. This was an important milestone because he can now use his accumulated vacation time. We don't have any plans right now to use any vacation but at least it's there. We actually had our own three day weekend last week - I had a dentist appt and Brian had a dr. appt on Monday so we both took the day off. And yes, we both still use our doctors in Hachie so it's a days worth of time. I love my dentist there so I just haven't even looked around here.

We've also been making it back to a couple of Hachie games. We are actually going this weekend. It's the Pink Out game so we'll be sporting our pink shirts for breast cancer awareness. Hachie isn't what we were last year. Definitely a very young team and very inexperienced. Can't get it together. We'll see where we end up in a few weeks.

Texas State is 3-1, which is a great start! We have a few weeks of no home events so everyone in the office is glad to have some time off.

I'm gonna start on those picture posts so hopefully you'll hear from me soon!

PeaceLove&Football :)

Afterthought: Picture posts will have to come tomorrow. The internet here loads pictures at about 1% per minute. I'll get some done tomorrow.

Where in the world have I been?

I know, I know. It's been what? about two months since my last post? I have totally and admittedly abandoned my blog. I felt like I really had nothing to blog about. My life is not terribly exciting :)

But I do have some pictures to share and some updates to give.

Oh, and don't worry, I've been keeping up with my blog-stalking. Didn't miss a day on that :)

I will share some pics over several posts. Some are random. Some are not. I went on a trip with my sister and my grandparents to South Dakota. It was a great trip and we saw some neat stuff. That will have to be a separate post of pictures. These are pics of bluebonnets, Rumba 2010, and some other things. Enjoy!

Ali and I in the bluebonnets. My hair looks really red in these pictures.
This is towards the end of the Rumba night. Every year there is a rum tasting in downtown Austin. I went this year with some friends and I'm so glad I did. It was a blast. This is Amber and Peggy showing you just how much fun we had. :)
Me and Sean. This was the start of the night. No dancing yet.
I may have already posted this picture. This is after our friend Jackie had her baby in May. I'm putting this in because Jackie and her family are moving to Cleveland and I'm still sad!
Me and baby Dominic (Jackie's baby). We miss him already and he's growing like a weed!
Me and Laurie at Cinco de Drinko :)
More bluebonnet pictures. This is me trying to a photographer.
Up close.
That's all I have for now. I will do a SD post soon.

This weekend Ali is coming down to float the river and Brian is going to Corpus to hang out with his friend, Christi. We have a busy few weekends. Next weekend we are having a garage sale at Brian's parents house. We have cleaned house and cleaned out the garage in preparation and the house feels so good. The weekend after that is Colorado for my cousin's wedding. Then July will be here - gosh, this summer is already flying by!

Promise I won't wait another 2 months before I post again! :)

More Pictures

So apparently my computer likes the University internet. Today I uploaded all these pictures and the ones from the previous post in about 5 minutes. At my house, it takes me 50 minutes to get 4 pictures onto blogger - and we have pretty good internet. I was so frustrated by that though so that's one of the reasons that I have not been blogging. So here are some more pictures from the past week or so.

My friend, Jackie, had her baby - Dominic James Bonavita. He is a precious and big boy. He was 8 lbs 6 oz and cute as ever. Here he is getting some cries out.
And here is Dominic and Aunt Laurie :)
Here are my babies :) We are keeping Brian's parent's dogs this week while they take a vacation to New York. I am so excited for them to go - it's their first time. So we have a full house and a full bed. Actually, Brian has been sleeping on the air mattress with some of the dogs at night because our queen size bed is too small for 5 dogs and 2 people. This is the best pic that I could get of all of them when they were piled on Brian's lap. It's quite difficult to get 5 dogs all looking the same way :)
Here are some bluebonnets in our neighborhood. This year, especially, we have tons of bluebonnets around here. They are so pretty but I still can't get Brian to take pictures in them :)
We got tickets to the NCAA women's basketball championship game from my boss. It was pretty neat.
Joe Biden and his family was there to greet the military that were honored guest - pretty cool.

And that's all I got for today. Two posts in one day - pretty good, huh? :) I'll try to wait so long for the next post.
