Fun/Lazy Weekend

Brian and I have had a great weekend.

Saturday we went to a Home and Garden show with Laurie in Austin at the Austin Convention Center. It was neat - would have been better if we had a home or garden :) - but I had fun. After that, we walked over to PF Changs - my fave! I stuffed my face! It was great. We don't go there often but always enjoy it when we get a chance to go.

Saturday evening, we (Brian, myself and Laurie) went to TGI Fridays and a movie in San Antonio. We went to see Edge of Darkness with Mel Gibson. It was good but not totally my type of movie - too much shootin :P Brian loved it and I kept saying that it was my dad's kinda movie too - the "shoot em up" type. I enjoyed the day - a good time with great friends!

Today, I slept in until 11:30!!! I know, ridiculous but much needed! I was so tired from Saturday and just the whole week really. So my dear husband let me sleep in and even went to go get the paper for me. I got up and went through the ads and coupons and then we got ready to go grocery shopping.

So, I've started getting into the the couponing thing. We had $25.00 of coupons today at HEB - mostly HEB coupons with the meal deal and combo locos. But then I went to CVS, Walgreens and Target to use some coupons. I've just been using coupons to stock up on things such as shampoo, lotions, toothpaste, etc. that won't go bad. I try not to use coupons just to use coupons but after reading some coupon blogs, I've learned how to match the coupons with sales to stock up for great prices.

After we got home, it was cleaning and laundry time. I've done 6 loads today and I'm still working on the stupid laundry! We've also been flipping between the pro bowl and the Grammys but neither are worth committing to.

It has been a good, fun, relaxing weekend for us. Glad that it's only been cold and not snowing like most of the country - not that snow happens much around here.

As you can tell, I failed to even take out my camera this weekend and I do apologize, although, even if I had taken pictures, I don't have a computer to put them on. Once I get my computer back I will have more pictures for you AND will do my spotlights on Simba and Jasmine as well.

Have a great week!

Saw

TGIF!!! Brian and I are both so glad it's Friday. It's so cold outside but Brian and I got out and went to Target, Academy and CVS. I have been wanting the new Lady A cd and of course, we ended up with way more than just the cd :) We got a new lamp for the living room too. I had a coupon that I wanted to use at CVS so we went for a quick trip. Then we stopped off at the Redbox to rent a movie. We ended up getting Saw 6. These movies are crazy but we like watching them. I can't stand the gory parts but I like the mystery of it. The clown thing freaks me out though:

It's supposed to be a little warmer here tomorrow but that only means in the 50s. We are going, with Laurie, to a Home & Garden show at the Austin Convention Center and then my favorite restaurant: P.F. Changs! I'll let you know how the show is - we don't have a home to decorate or anything but they have a technology section that I think Brian will like so we are going to try it out at least.

Modern Family

I know I've talked about this before but if you have not seen 'Modern Family', you need to immediately set your DVR to record it. It is so funny. Brian and I love it. We are watching re-runs now and laughing our butts off!

There is a gay couple on the show and I LOVE them! Cameron (the guy on the right) is my favorite. He is hilariously funny.

I know this is a short blog but this is a great show and I am suggesting that you check it out.

And my brand new netbook is broken so I may not be updating my lovely blog every day (not that I did before the broken computer). I know, it's a bummer, but I'm sending it back to hp tomorrow so they can check it out. Frustrating!

Spotlight on Gus

As I go through my pictures, I always enjoy looking at pictures of my dogs when they were puppies. So, since I don't have too much going on to post blogs about, I am going to spotlight my pups in pics :)

Gus Gus - he's my middle child and the most cuddly, loving little dog ever. Here's his first snow:
He loves to be petted. He is the lap dog that I always wanted.

He sleeps right between me and Brian because he likes to be under the covers but likes for his face to be exposed. He likes to lay right up on one of our backs.

He was the tiniest puppy.
This is around the 1 year mark. He loves anyone who pets him. He is always a little guarded at first but if you get your hand on his tummy, he will be your best friend.
He's always eager to please and willing to forgive. If he does something bad, you know it cause he hides under the bed. And he hates to be yelled at. But then he'll creep up to you and roll over to expose his tummy - his kind of peace agreement.

This was the first time that Gus met Ali. He greets us at the the door everyday with a little growl and then whines of excitement.
This was the first night he came to live with us. He had fleas everywhere and he was too young to get a flea bath. We had to bath him with a special shampoo and Brian and I took turns sleeping on the couch with him for the first few nights because we didn't want him in our bed.

This was where Gus spent most of the first day with us. He didn't know what to think of Simba and he was a little scared so he just hung out by the trash can. I think he missed his sister. It broke my heart.

His nails were so long. He was in pretty bad shape and needed to be cleaned up. But he sure was cute.

This is his favorite hoodie. He has a new sweater. Gus loves to be in sweaters or hoodies. He gets pretty cold and likes to cuddle up in something.

Teen years - he's chewing up a toy. All my dogs just chew up toys. Nope, no playing, just chewing.

And here is Gus with Brian. Brian claims that Gus is his dog. They are buddies.
We are lucky people to have Gus as our child, errr, dog. He is always in the mood to cuddle and love on you. He is always very attentive - if you're sad, he knows and cuddles. Maybe it's just because he likes belly rubs :) Gus is a pretty awesome dog and we couldn't imagine life without him.

My snugglebug & Happy Birthday Mom!

I don't have much to blog about today so you will get ramblings.

I have been so busy at work this week. The first week of school is always the busiest for my 400 children and for me.

The wellness program where I take step and yoga classes started a new early morning class this semester. It starts at 6:30 AM. I am not a morning person but so far, I am 2 for 2. The class is only 2 days a week and I've made it to both so far. It's great that I get my work-out in and don't have to worry about it all day.

To explain my title, my little snugglebug was Jasmine tonight and pretty much every night for that matter. She has to have cuddle time with me and then Brian before bed time. We got in the bed tonight to watch some tivo-ed shows and she was cuddling in my neck the minute I laid down. I wish that I could have taken our picture just so that you can see her cute little cuddly behind.

But here's a picture of my cuddlebug anyway:

Also, a big Happy Birthday shout out to my mom! Love you! Here's a picture of my mom with her mom a few years ago at Barb's lake house. Mom's lost a lot of weight compared to this picture but I like it.

And here is mom and Gus at the lake - such a fun picture :)

Much Love!

Our first "grand" trip

I have been planning this trip to South Dakota and I've also been loading all my pictures onto my little laptop so I can use some in my blog. In doing so, I ran across pictures from our first "grand" trip (get it? grandparents and grandkids, clever I know). We went to the Grand Canyon during summer of 2007 - It was a lot of fun. Here are some of the memories:

My "postcard worthy" picture of the GC at sunrise.
Blurry but another shot at sunrise.
A train in Williams
Me and Nonnie waiting on the bus at the GC. It started out so cold then got warm.
Ali and Papa at the Painted Desert. We drove through the PD and the Petrified Forest on our way to the GC.

Haha, this is the squirrel at the GC. His name is sqwirl. That is what this little girl kept calling him: Daddy, look at this sqwirl.

And this is Ranger Joe. He is the Ranger of all rangers. He was very enthusiastic about the fossils at the GC.

This was such a fun trip and I am really looking forward to the one this summer too!

Happy 1st Birthday Gianna!

Well I'm a day late. And I even had something to post about - Gianna's 1st birthday!!

My cousin, Dawn, has a little baby girl that turned one last week. We had her party on Saturday and it was entertaining :) I don't ever know what to think about one year old parties. You know the kid doesn't have a clue as to what is going on and won't remember it but the smashing of the cake and the opening of the presents is fun all the same.
She got a ton of presents and the cutest clothes ever!

However, her favorite present was from me! I got her a doll and I was worried cause I thought it would be too heavy for her - she just started walking so I didn't want it to make her topple over :) Anyway, she loved it!

She also loved her cake. There was no hesitation as she dug right in. She started with the icing and then finally just started taking chunks of cake. It was quite funny. Then she started playing peek-a-boo with her cake filled hands. I didn't have my camera out for that part but I wish I had - she had cake all over her eyes and into her hair. She got a bath after but the rest of the day she had a slight tint to her face. Did I mention her cake had red and black icing? :)

It was a fun day and a special celebration. Happy 1st Birthday Gianna! (I now I have funny pictures for you when your 14 years old :)

Can you find Simba?

Simba was snuggled up in my snuggie tonight :) so I couldn't resist taking this picture. Isn't he a cutie?

Guess who finally "figured out" how to put pictures on her computer? :) That's right, me! I was in a dilemma because I thought I needed my camera software on the computer and my computer does not have a cd drive. My friend, Laurie, suggested using my sd slot that came on my computer, which I hadn't even thought of. (Are we figuring out yet that I'm slow on the computer thing?) Anyway, turned out that my sd card was too small for that slot. So genius me realized tonight that I could just use my usb that came with the camera to download pics - duh!

But as always, this one picture is all I have to share today :) I am going to a birthday party tomorrow for my cousin's little girl so I will make sure to take pictures!

Besides my camera/computer ignorance, I was really going to blog today about South Dakota. I am planning a trip for the summer with my sister and my grandparents. We took a trip together two summers ago to the Grand Canyon and had a great time. That trip definitely gave us memories to hold for a long time and I hope that this one will make some of the same.

So I've been researching because, as usual, I am the planner. I take the role on with pride and I really have so much fun doing it. I received some information on planning a trip to SD (and yes, I requested it) the other day and so this weekend I plan to dive right into it. But today, I thought I'd share with you some fun facts that was on one of the handouts that I was sent:

  • South Dakota ranks 16th in size among the 50 states.
  • It was the 40th state to join the Union in 1889.
  • SD encompasses 77,123 square miles, averaging 10 people per square mile.
  • SD has more miles of shoreline than the state of Florida.
Another thing about SD is that it is so very close to the state of Montana, a state that I have longed to visit for-ev-er. I don't know why, but I have always been intrigued by and pulled to that state for some reason.

Okay, I'm sure you'll be hearing more about this trip in the future. Here are some pics of what we hope to see:

And here's one of Montana:

Sickness

I know I haven't been too great on updating this weekend. It's because we've been sick in this household. Brian had not been feeling good for a few days but I just thought it was allergies. But on Friday night, he came home and started running a fever. So we went to the med clinic when his fever got to 101 and got some prescriptions and a new inhaler. The antibiotics have been great and he is feeling much better today. BUT then of course I got sick. I woke up Saturday morning not feeling great but we ran some errands to Sams, Target & Academy. Then we came home and I was feeling worse. I started on Sudafed and have been on it all day today. I've pretty much been in bed all of today and finally got up around 6ish to take a shower. I felt better after that and we go Chilis To Go for dinner. I said all of that to say, we haven't done really anything at all this weekend and I wish I had one more day to feel better. And I hate being sick!

Hope everyone is surviving the cold and staying away from sickness!

I need pictures!

Actually I need to be able to download pictures.

I really don't have any pictures to download, really.
I just need to be able to download them if I had any to download.

See, this nifty little netbook I got doesn't have a cd drive, therefore, I cannot put my camera stuff on here.

I guess I need to buy the cord where you can hook up the netbook to a desk top to get it downloaded. I don't really know.

Oh the problems of my life ;)

I have VERY lazy dogs.

I have super, extra lazy dogs. Today's post will be primarily pictures. And don't judge because these are the only pictures that I took over the winter break, including Christmas. I was horrible about not taking pictures! Oh well, these are fun. Oh, AND don't judge because I am obsessed with my dogs and take way too many pictures of them :)
Being lazy with Twigs (that's what we call mother Jane)
He was so cold!

So was Jasmine.
Simba loved laying with Ali and her snuggie. Ali didn't want to be in the picture.
This should be our Christmas card. If we sent out Christmas cards :)
This is Ali telling me not to take her picture or she will beat me up. And she really will now.
Mom, can you find us the biggest comforter so we can snuggle in it, please?
Brian with some of his Christmas presents and our Charlie Brown tree in the background.
And this is just a picture that I took at a neighbor's house because it is so big and pretty.
Much Love - Kels

My hair

I need a hair cut...like, badly. very very badly.

Brian likes when my hair grows long. I don't.

Since I've had my hair short, I have discovered how easy it is to fix and that is of top importance.

I've been growing my hair out. Yet when I say growing out, I mean about 2 inches above my shoulders - I can't go any longer! It's not really been on purpose, I just haven't gotten to the salon. But since I've been growing it out, I've got like this cowlick thing going on in the back. It's only in one section but I cannot tame it for the life of me.

Thus the reason that I will be getting a haircut very, very soon.

It will be my usual cut but it's so easy to fix and it has some style to it - it's not just laying there.

Okay, enough about my hair. Maybe I'll post a picture once it's done.

Oh Winter Break, how I will miss thee!

I look forward to winter break every year. By the time December rolls around, the kids (students, that is) are wearing me plum out. I am ready for them to climb in their cars and go let their mommas take care of them for awhile. I am ready to have me time. I am ready to read 3 books and go see a movie, all by myself! I am ready to, yes, go into work during the break so that I can get things done in the peace and quiet. I am ready to sleep until noon if I want to or just lay in bed and watch movies alllll day long. I channel my inner college student during winter break, really.

But then January rolls around. And it's time to go back to work. And today, I didn't mind going back to work. I was refreshed and ready for the day. I had finished all of the demanding things over the break so I wasn't overwhelmed when I returned. I love all of my children and now I am ready to greet them back with open arms. I am ready to tend to their sometimes whiney needs. I love my job and while I sometimes need a good, long, relaxing, kid-free break, it's always nice to come back.

I will miss that good ole winter break but I know that it's second cousin, spring break is just around the corner - no doubt she will roll around right when I need it :)
