San Francisco: Day 3

Today, we walked around the tourist-y part of San Francisco. We decided to do Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39 and the Ferry Building. We got two very special treats today. The first was that there was a Blue Angels air show today. It is Fleet Week here and they did a special show...very neat! The second is that Brian's cousin, Dan, came over from Castro Valley to meet with us and spend the day.

You can barely see the Blue Angels but they flew by with red, white and blue coming out of them. Below is a great picture of Brian and Dan:

We started off at the Ferry Building. There is a farmers market every Saturday and it is big and very tasty :) All the booths had samples and every sort of fresh, organic produce that you could think of. They had fruits, veggies, herbs, a little bit of everything.

We went to AT&T park after that. It's where the Giants play and it was such a pretty building :)

When we were walking back towards the Pier area, there was this dog that was creeping up on the birds on the rail and on the ground. It was soooo funny! He was terribly cute and he would stand in a pointer type position and stare at the birds. And then, he would slllllooooowwly walk, step by step, towards the birds. Everyone was standing there watching him. When some of the birds flew away, he looked so disappointed :( He'd run around and find his owner and then go back to the birds. I love dogs!:)

We headed to Pier 39 and had some lunch. I had crab & shrimp chowder in a sourdough bread bowl - Fabulous! We also got to see the seals. They were so much fun to watch - very entertaining! But they were so very stinky!

Since it is Fleet Week, they had USS Pampanito that you could tour.

They were selling all sorts of sea food by the piers and they had Dungeness crab everywhere:

Ghirardelli Square was right across the street and it was not what I expected. We got to see some chocolate making and I got a cupcake from this little shop...yummy!

We had such a good time today and again, got to see everything that we wanted to. We walked a ton and got a little sunburnt! :) Today was the sunniest day but also the coldest day, by far since we have been here. I know that sounds weird but all day it was so sunny and perfect. It was pretty windy but then the sun went behind some clouds and it got super cold. We had to close the window in our room tonight for the first time on this trip because it's too cold out there. Tonight, for dinner, we tried out a Thai place only about half a block from our hotel. It was perfect - we are exhausted and didn't want to go far.

It's off to bed. Tomorrow is the big game! :) Brian is so excited and I know we will have a great time.

Here is a picture that I randomly took because, of course, I had to have a picture of the famous trolley car:
